Are you unwittingly unaware of what’s holding you back?

I once worked as a consultant to the Head of Systems at Railtrack. There was something quite special about Philip. When something needed to be done, he just did it, straight away, whenever I advised him a certain person needed to be contacted or a procedure needed to be put in place – he just did it, there and then. Philip never had a need for the critical element or catalyst most of us require to make things happen.

I learned many decades ago in A Level Chemistry, that many reactions between one substance and another can’t happen without another substance, which takes no active part in the transformation, being present. It’s called a ‘catalyst’ but, although I know, I won’t go into  ‘how’ it works, but the point is, without it, nothing happens.

Unfortunately, unlike my friend Philip, most of us need one of these ‘catalysts’ whenever we want to carry out a task or make something happen. If we want to write a letter, answer a question, set up a meeting or visit, even when we want to book a holiday, nothing will happen without this catalyst. The trouble is there seems to be a massive shortage of this ‘magic ingredient’, particularly it seems in the ‘Western’ culture.

This shortage, because they can only be used once, is causing massive disruption in all aspects of our lives, personal, work and business, relationships and so on as it’s really preventing us from ‘getting things done’ – not just occasionally, but every day.

It’s holding us back, even if we have a supply, as for some reason we’re just not deploying them when and where they’re needed. These catalysts are quite small, quite simple and there’s no reason why you and I shouldn’t keep an adequate supply – but the thing is we have to use them!

The irony is, you and I can, like Philip, do without them, and there are lots of software tools and apps to help. But it’ll probably take at least one to get started. So if you want to learn how to do without them, how to make all aspects of your life better, just get a ‘Round Tuit’ and get started!
