‘Letting Go’
Not as easy as it seems
There’s much advice being given about ‘Letting Go’ or ‘Releasing’ emotions, beliefs, situations and perhaps relationships which might be felt to be ‘negative’ or ‘not to your highest good’
What exactly does this all mean?
It’s not as simple as it sounds, it’s not particularly ‘easy’ and its certainly not a one off event but something, if you really mean it you have to work at for a while.
You see, to ‘let go’ you’ll need to make conscious choices and decisions rather than just repeat affirmations as some advise.
You have to ‘re-program’ your subconscious to change the neural connections it makes whenever the topic you want to ‘let go’ of crops up in your consciousness.
This means you must work on ‘letting go’ of something every day, and indeed all the time, rather than thinking about it just once. It’s easy enough to make the choice and decision to do it but to implement it could take a long time depending how deeply it’s embedded in your subconscious.
What may have started in your childhood becomes harder and harder to winkle out after a few decades.
The thing is until you complete the process what you want to ‘get rid of’ will keep coming back so a key part of the ‘letting go’ process is to ‘lock out’ or ‘banish’ it to keep it from doing so.
What I do on a day to day basis is to envisage whatever I want to dispose of disappearing into a ‘black hole’ but I still have to do this every day for a long time.
But how do you or I know when it has ‘gone’?
Examine your feelings. How do you feel about this topic? It’s not completely gone until you can’t recall what it was, but if you’re feeling neutral about it you’re well on the way to what you want.
Keep going until you ‘know’ and feel it’s not part of you anymore. It takes time to dispose of the ‘stuff’ we don’t want in our minds, rather than a quick trip to the local tip.
I wish you the best on your journey.
